Young Persons' Project
In January 2012, the Women and Young Persons' Department launched a unique and innovative new Project providing legal advice to refugee and migrant children and young people (up to age 25) in Scotland.
Legal Advice
The Young Persons' Project provides legal advice, assistance and representation to refugee and migrant children and young people in the following areas:-
- Asylum and Immigration law
- Rights and entitlements of children and young people in Scotland
- Access to rights and support under the Children (Scotland) Act 1995
- Children’s Hearing System
- National Referral Mechanism
- Compensation
Please note that the Young Persons' Project does not provide advice on family or criminal law matters but frequently works in partnership with solicitors in these areas.
If you wish advice or you wish to refer an individual for advice, please make a referral to the Project. Full details are at Client Referrals.
Second-Tier Advice
We also provide free advice to other lawyers, organisations and individuals who are assisting or supporting refugee and migrant children and young people (up to age 25) who are based in Scotland.
If you are interested in obtaining second-tier advice from Project staff, please see Second Tier/General Advice.
