OBJECTIVES We are at a time of transition in judicial expenses. Already in 2008 we have had the first change in the privitive limits for many years with a consequent increase in potential business in the Sheriff Court. In addition the Civil Court Review under the chairmanship of Lord Gill is due to report early in 2009 and many observers anticipate further reform. This seminar will examine current judicial practice including accounting formats, strategies for adjustment and how to avoid the pitfalls of irrecoverable outlays.
PARTICIPANTS This seminar will be of particular interest to practising solicitors, legal executives or cash-room staff dealing with aspects of judicial accounting.
SPEAKERS The speakers are Stewart Mullan formerly senior partner of Mullans Law Accountants and now operating as an independent consultant under the title Stewart Mullan Legal Fee Management, Perth. Mr. Mullan is a current member of the Law Society Professional Remuneration Committee, Vice Chair of the Law Accountants Association and a frequent contributor to the Reparation Bulletin. He has operated numerous workshops for solicitors and law accountants and is an excellent communicator. Mr. Mullan will be joined by one of the current partners at Mullens who will assist in the delivery of a 'break out session' during which those attending will consider example Accounts of Expenses on an inter-active basis.
