OBJECTIVES With effect from 1st October 2006 the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 will impact on all non domestic premises. These require all employers and building owners to carry out a fire risk assessment and act upon its findings. Having completed the Assessment its significant findings must be intimated to employees. It need not be a massive chore. By the end of this programme, each delegate will be able to:
- Understand the 5 Steps to complete a Risk Assessment
- Identify the fire safety measures necessary as a result of the risk assessment
- Prepare a Fire Risk Assessment for their premises
- Understand how to control and review fire safety measures
- Understand the requirement to keep records
- Understand how to apply the regulations in the case of vulnerable groups
- Understand how to integrate the assessments into an overall Health and Safety Policy
PARTICIPANTS Owners/managers in small to medium sized businesses who have a responsibility for Health and Safety and who wish to ensure compliance with current regulations.
SPEAKER The speaker is Bill Templeton. Bill has been principal consultant of R.P.L. Para-Legal Ltd since 1992. He is a graduate in law from Glasgow University with more than 20 years experience in a wide range of business environments. He has considerable experience in employment law and health and safety at work.
