OBJECTIVES The new Scottish charities legislation will make important changes to the framework for regulation of charities in Scotland - and will have significant implications for all those involved on boards or committees of charitable bodies.

This seminar will cover the new definition of a Scottish charity, the role and powers of the charities regulator, the duties of charity trustees, and the new legal entity - the SCIO - which will become available through the new legislation.  The seminar will also give an overview of the new approach to the monitoring of Scottish charities and the regulation of fund-raising.

PARTICIPANTS This seminar is will be of interest to anyone serving on a board or management committee of a charitable body (or serving as a trustee of a charitable trust) or anyone who is involved in providing advice or support to charitable bodies.

SPEAKER The speaker is Graeme Palmer, Associate Solicitor, Burness LLP, Solicitors, Glasgow.  Mr. Palmer has extensive expertise in the field of charities, community business and the voluntary sector.
